Holy Cross College, a four year, Roman Catholic liberal arts college located in Notre Dame, Indiana, was looking for a way to improve their image, particularly with high schools students considering attending HCC. They knew their website was a weak link in their marketing approach and that some crucial changes were necessary.
The HCC web team had some great ideas and plenty of marketing experience, but they asked us to help consolidate their creative concepts into an actionable plan that the web team could carry out.
After gathering and organizing their web team's ideas, we gave them a list of priorities based on what they had expressed as their overarching website goals. This was followed by an analysis of their Google Analytics for more data-driven information. We then worked with the HCC web team to devise and conduct an audience survey of incoming students and their experience with the website as prospective students.
With a strategic plan and valuable user data in hand, HCC quickly took action and asked one:ten to also redesign their website. They had several specific changes in mind:
With these considerations in mind, we went about studying numerous university websites, assessing and extracting the qualities that seemed to fit the character and online goals of HCC. In sharing the results of our research, we gave the HCC web team a focused direction for their homepage content strategy. Together we devised a layout, including larger banner images and strategically placed calls to action, that would tactfully engage viewers. Using HCC's content management system, we rebuilt the front-end design for the entire site, changing not only the home page but all other web pages as well. In addition, we used their school colors and a checkered pattern throughout the site to ensure that the new design reflected HCC's up-to-date brand standards.
We completed the redesign to the good reviews of the HCC staff and current students, and we look forward to the impact it will have in building up the future student body!
