title: Assistant Web Designer
hometown: South Bend, IN
current location: Evansville, IN
what do you do? My job includes the best of both worlds, programming and design. I work on anything from small or medium fixes on one of our current websites to building simple pages on our new websites. Much of this work uses a combination of django, HTML and CSS.
what's the best thing about your job? I enjoy attention to detail in making our websites' appearance accurate to Jennifer's designs and proposing my own ideas to the design as I create a page or feature. Another fun part of my job is continuing to learn code to accomplish various tasks on our websites. One of my favorite sites to work on is the Trinity website; I particularly enjoyed building the transparent borders found on the splash page and each location's home page.
how did you get here?
In the summers of 2006 and 2007 I worked for LaSalle Company, one:ten's parent company, doing customer service, while pursuing a biochemistry degree at the University of Notre Dame. Since childhood I've held a wide range of interests, varying from art to science and technology. When an opportunity presented itself to intern in design at one:ten for the summer of 2008, I happily took the job, having been very impressed with the quality of business at the LaSalle company. Now I am on a leave of absence from Notre Dame to do mission work in southern Indiana, but still work part time for one:ten.
the interesting stuff: I live with a group of 14 missionaries (including Annie). I enjoy talking about Jesus and praying with people that we meet. Some of my favorite free time activities are running, reading, taking photos and painting.
