title: Web Developer

hometown: Minneapolis, MN

current location: South Bend, IN

what do you do? I generally work on software we've already built, adding features, upgrading old code and generally making it possible for our websites to do more. Currently I'm immersed in a project to expand the media management capabilities of our e-commerce suite. I'm also usually the one to fix websites whenever they don't work like they should.

what's the best part about your job? I really enjoy working with power tools: Python, Django, Git, and jQuery.

how did you get here? It all started when my dad taught me how to play computer games on his laptop when I was three. By 3rd grade, age nine, I was scouring the school library for books on computers and by 5th grade, age eleven, I started to look at the source code of web pages and decipher how HTML worked, which led inevitably to a webpage on Geocities. Skipping ahead through machine code, web servers, AJAX, high school and part of college, I started as an intern for one:ten in June of 2007, improving the software that powers our websites. After finishing at the University of Minnesota (B.S. in Computer Science), I packed my bags for South Bend and started working full time.

the interesting stuff: In my spare time, I enjoy documentary photography, biking, computer cords, visualizing interesting data, math and physics.
